Changing from the initial chosen brief

    For my Advanced Portfolio in Media Studies, I initially chose the TV documentary brief but later decided to change my focus to a music video package. This shift will allow me to express myself more authentically and creatively.

    I was originally drawn to the idea of producing a documentary because of my involvement in a cinematography club outside of school, where I had the opportunity to meet Romanian non-fiction film director Carmen Lidia Vidu. After watching several of her documentaries, I felt deeply inspired by her unique storytelling style and initially wanted to reflect that influence in my own work, through a documentary about my hometown, Timisoara.

    However, after further reflection, I realised that a conventional TV documentary format might not best complement my skills or artistic vision. While I appreciate the documentary form, I tend to lean towards a more expressive and experimental aesthetic, which aligns more naturally with the music video brief. Choosing this option allows me to stay within the assessment’s requirements while still creating something visually engaging and true to my creative identity.
