Camera Experimenting

    I've borrowed one of my friends' handycam and decided to try out shooting with it. I think that it would be appropriate for atleast some shots, if not all, because of the vintage appeal of the videos. This would go along well with the atmosphere of comfort and nostalgia that I want to create in the music video.

    Here are multiple videos I have taken with the camera  along the weekend while I hung out with my friends. I've learned how to use the camera settings, as well as navigate through its options, how to transfer videos from the camera to my laptop and what a SD card's purpose is. I've used CapCut on my laptop to cut the videos and put them together. 

    *All participants featured in this video montage gave me informed consent to be filmed and for the footage to be used for educational purposes as part of my media coursework. As learned in class, this follows media regulation principles, particularly the IPSO Editors’ Code of Practice, which emphasises respecting individuals’ rights to privacy and ethical representation in media production.

22.12.2025 Although I like the appeal the camera creates, I decided I want to switch around between my phone camera on cinematic mode (the camera of an Iphone 15) and this Sony handycam. This is because I think that the colours would look too washed out if the recordings would be taken solely on the handycam. This could enable me to create the feeling of archive 'old' recordings, which create feelings of nostalgia.
